“Vantage Point”

“Eight strangers with eight different points of view try to unlock the one truth behind an assassination attempt on the president of the United States.”

I believe you’ll either like or dislike this movie. The fact that the same 23 minute scene restarts over and over showing the differen’t “vantage points” of each of the characters is either going to be a plus or a minus. Me personally? I didn’t enjoy it, I don’t think it was a good fit for the movie, granted I know that’s the whole point of the movie was to show the different perspective’s of each character, but I think it could have been done a little differently.

The plot was decent, I mean another movie on an attempt to assasinate the president, seems like they almost tried to hit some of the same points that were in the movie “Shooter”, I can’t delve into the similarities as this would spoil some of the movie.

The acting was ok, I’m not a huge Dennis Quaid fan, he’s one of those actors that I’m always thinking he’s someone else (i.e. typically Kevin Costner). Forest Whitaker did well as always, however nothing to write home about.

The action scenes were fairly decent, however not all that impressive as this was intended more suspense than action.

Overall I’d rank this movie about 2 martini glasses, pretty good, but I wouldn’t say run out and see this. This would be another movie that I would say, hey if you have nothing to do and you want to rent a movie and there isn’t a blockbuster hit that just came out, then rent this, you may not be disappointed but can’t guarantee that, this one hit right on the edge for me, I’ll just say “Meh, it was ok”.

Until next time mofo’s….
