This weekend was a huge game for me with my football career. It was the championship game for the IFL, my team (the Indiana Generals), versus the Battle Creek Blaze. Words cannot express how important this game was to me because one, my team lost by one point last year in the championship game, and two, the game was being held at the University I graduated from.
In the first quarter, we had somewhat of a scare, the Blaze was shutting down our offense, and thier offense marched into our half of the field. Thankfully, our defense was able to shut them down and keep them at bay until we scored the first 6 points! After that we went on to score 14 more points in the second quarter with them only scoring 7 to make it 20 in the half. The second half was total Generals domination on offense, deffense, and special teams. At the end of the 4th quarter, Generals had secured their FIRST championship with a score of 51-14!!
It was an emotional win for a lot of us that have been struggling to secure a championship for a few years. After holding the trophy and being on my Universities field, I decided that this would be my final game. After 3 years of being on the semi-pro stage, and 15 years total playing, I decided that I’d go out on top. This is definitely a hard decision, and I am really going to miss playing this game, but it is for the best. I made some great friends on this team, and there are so many memories I will have from this team. Thank you Indiana Generals for an amazing three years.
