The Dark Knight

“With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.”

I have one word to sum up this movie “AWESOME”. I kid you not, this could possibly be the BEST MOVIE of the summer. From the action to the complex plot line… overall amazing. I will have to say, I don’t know where this movie would be without Heath Ledger, words just can’t begin to explain how well he did the Joker, he was BORN to play the role.

The plot of the movie was done well, just when you think you know what’s going to happen there’s a twist, now some of the twists were a bit predictable to me, but still done VERY well. The movie kept me very well entertained through out, not even realizing it was creeping up on being three hours long (other than the gallon of coke I drank during the movie).

The acting is what made this movie, not necessarily Christian Bale, don’t get me wrong he did a good job, but Heath Ledger. This role was way out in left field from any role I’ve ever seen him in. He nailed the psychotic Joker to the tee, Jack Nicholson has nothing on Ledger. There were times in the movie where I didn’t even recognize Ledger, just extremely different from any role he’s ever done. If anyone else had played the role, this movie would not have been as good.

The visual effects were also done well, very clean and crisp. No extremely phony effects, just pure action. Also kudos on the effects of Two Face, sort of creeped me out a bit.

Overall, I’m giving this movie 4… yes I said 4 martini glasses, top of the scale awesome. The only thing that I absolutely hated about the movie was…..the fact the Ledger won’t be back to play the Joker again. A sad day when someone with that much talent passes away. He’ll be greatly missed. The Dark Knight is a MUST see, I don’t care if you’re not a fan of theatres or crowds you HAVE to see this movie, just remarkable.
