The Coop, of Chicago, IL is proud to announce the release of their full length LP – ‘Internalize.’ Several years in the making, this modern portrait of a unified organic and future sound takes the listener on genre-bending aural adventure through the fusion of the elements of electronica and traditional instrumentation. With a core sound elementally driven by breakbeat, dub and jazz, ‘Internalize’ offers an ebb and flow of intense electronic layering interwoven with virtuosic live performance from the young quartet.
The Coop is Jacob Barinholtz, Cason Trager, Danny Biggins and Jared Shaw and you can see them Saturday at The Kinetic Playground for their album release party which will also host 1320 Recording Artist ‘The Polish Ambassador,’ Bass/Glitch Duo Fresh2Death from Boulder, CO, MC Didgy Slacker and Live Electro Duo Jib’n’Jab. The night will also feature live painting, local art vendors, and a state of the art lighting and laser showcase by Coop’s Lighting Designer Kyle Kegan.
‘…I was blown away by two aspects: their youth, and their tightness. Lumping them into the jam category is unfair. They are coming from a purely electronic headspace. Breakbeat underlies their sound more than trance or house, quite uncommon for acts of their ilk. Solid drums and bass lay a thick foundation for the Coop. What’s almost as impressive, and certainly worth pointing out, is their saxophonist knows how to lay in the cut… As an added bonus, these guys actually pull off live dubstep, which can prove to be quite a challenge. The Coop plays a greatdeal in and around the Second City;
do yourself a favor and check them out.’ – Anand Harsh, TheUntz.com
