Grab your whiskey and get to the dance floor because Indy Mojo is taking over the Bluebird once again. Bluegrass is back, this time with Trampled by Turtles Thursday, February 5 (8pm, $20). A five-piece ensemble all the way from Duluth, Minn. gives you a smooth blend of bluegrass with an indie folk twist. Get your tickets soon as this show is on the verge of selling out!
What first attracted me to Trampled by Turtles (TBT) was their fast paced tempo and rasping melodies. They swoon you with their heartfelt lyrics while your toes are tapping violently to the beat. This fun loving band developed from a not-so-typical background; all band members started off in separate bands playing a variety of electronic, metal, and jam music. Slowly, one by one, they left these bands to form TBT and 10 years later they are still putting out albums and bringing in the crowd.
More recently, they were featured in July 2014 on “Late Night with David Letterman” to sing songs off their latest album, “Wild Animal”.
TBT will be on tour early spring through the summer, with several festival dates already announced including Hangout, Summer Camp, Bonnaroo and Telluride. While we all love festivals don’t miss this perfect opportunity to see them in a more intimate setting at The Bluebird. The banjo will be plucked, the guitar will be strummed, and the vocals will take you away.
February 5th, 8pm
Can’t catch them at the Egyptian Room in Indy this Saturday? Well, worry not – you have a second chance to experience a ruthless SAVOY performance in all of its laser-blastin’ glory at the Bluebird in Bloomington this Sunday, September 21, 2014. Not familiar with the SAVOY style? Well, if you like rowdy dancing and over-the-top light shows then don’t miss this stop on SAVOY’s Mo Lasers Mo Problems Tour.
SAVOY is a Brooklyn-based, Boulder-born trio consisting of DJs Gray Smith and Ben Eberdt and drummer Mike Kelley. Known for fusing electro-house with drum-heavy rock, SAVOY brings a unique combination of soul and bass that crowds across the country can’t get enough of. From their roots as a college jamband to their evolution as dance music pioneers, SAVOY has refined their sound and act to flawlessly mix the grit of rock and bounce of house into a juggernaut of a performance.
What’s more, SAVOY is practically synonymous with lasers. Good luck finding evidence of a SAVOY performance with a less than stellar light show. In fact, their previous tour names include SAVOY Live with Lasers and the Get Lazer’d Tour. Prepare to become one with lasers.
Before the show, check out SAVOY’s recent single, S.C.R.E.A.M., featuring the tour’s special guest, Bright Lights:

Two Fresh has travelled a long way with their sound in a short time. Originally from Nashville, TN, and now residing in Denver CO, twin brothers Sherwyn & Kendrick Nicholls have developed into a unique electronic production team.
The twins early work, “The Baker’s Dozen,” was nostalgic of early 90’s hip-hop, using soulful and lo-fi samples, intertwined with classic drum stylings. With their first full length album, “Airmail”, Two Fresh took the sound in a spacey, yet grounded direction that has set the foundation for their more recent works. Having released “Watch This!” in early 2013, the twins’ latest EP showcases the more upbeat side of their musical spectrum.
Sherwyn and Kendrick developed a broad fan base, spanning all across North America, through extensive touring with artists such as Skrillex, Bassnectar,12th Planet, and Daedelus as well as performing at a slew of music festivals including Electric Daisy Carnival, SXSW and Detroit Electronic Music Festival.
Now in their fifth year as a group, be sure to catch Two Fresh out this summer performing new material from their forthcoming full-length release due this fall!
