Local livetronica duo Magnetic (read my interview with them here) will open for Altered Thurzday headliner Archnemesis. Recently surpassing 200 “likes” on Facebook, Magnetic is expected to release a new track on their page today to thank fans for their support. Although drummer Nick Neureiter will not be available to play with Magnetic for tonight’s show, have faith that producer Adam Langolf will still bring it hard for the Mousetrap crew.
As one of the most accessible groups to ever play at Altered Thurzday, Asheville-based twosome Archnemesis boast a groovy electronic sound that parallels the danceable, “electrohiphopsoul” productions of Pretty Lights.
Equally appealing to hardcore EDM fans and dance music rookies alike, Archnemesis are expected to create a wonderfully pleasing soundscape for everyone to dance and play in at The Mousetrap tonight. Absent are the rapid beats of drum-n-bass and womp-wobbles of dubstep that are so often criticized, only to be replaced by low-end productions, bouncy rhythms, and soulful samples that are guaranteed to move the body.
Fans and followers of locally produced, single-day music festival Knollfest will also recognize Archnemesis’ name; they were among the most anticipated performances on the festival’s 2010 bill.
Members of both the EDM and jamband scenes are sure to be out in large numbers tonight for another evening of memorable performances at Altered Thurzday. We hope to see you there!
