Pink Panther 2

“Hollywood funnyman Steve Martin returns to the role made famous by Peter Sellers in this high-concept sequel to the 2006 comedy hit The Pink Panther. The world’s most valuable treasures are being stolen. The legendary Pink Panther Diamond is the latest to disappear, and Chief Inspector Dreyfus (John Cleese taking over acting duties from Kevin Kline) is assembling a team of international experts and detectives to track down the thief and recover the missing artifacts. The latest addition to the crack team is Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Martin), the intrepid yet awkward French detective who always seems to get his man. Jean Reno and Emily Mortimer reprise their roles as Clouseau’s partner, Ponton, and love interest, Nicole, respectively, with Andy Garcia, Alfred Molina, Yuki Matsuzaki, and the Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai rounding out the team that will travel from Paris to Rome in search of the priceless gem.”

I’ll be honest…wasn’t really all that excited to see this film. I wasn’t impressed with the first movie and in the second they overuse that hamburger gag again.

The plot of the movie…well…is sort of the same as the first one. The Pink Panther diamond is stolen and Steve Martin (along with a well known supporting cast) attempt to retrieve it.

There were some visual effects that were pretty amazing…a part where it looks like Steve Martin is mowed down by cows. Other visual effects were just too cheesy and extremely unrealistic.

The acting was well done of course, due to the well known cast I would hope not to experience anything less than well done. Martin, Cleese, Garcia, Tomlin, Irons…I mean really? All veterans of their craft and excellent at what they do.

Overall, didn’t really enjoy it…same old tired jokes were used and a lot of the comedy was…well…not really funny to me…I chuckled at a couple of parts but that was about all. There were a lot of kids in the theatre and they laughed quite a bit…I’ll throw about 2 stars into this one…it would be something I’d probably rent…or not…maybe if there wasn’t anything I really wanted to see I’d rent it. Well until next time mofo’s…see you at the movies!
