My weekend…low key and perfect… :)

As some may know, I have been having a c-r-a-z-y time at work for the past week or so. I was definitely looking forward to a nice weekend to take my mind off of everything…and I got just what I wanted! Friday night, I went out to dinner with an old friend who I hadn’t seen in months…so we had lots of catching up to do over yummy margaritas and great Mexican food at On The Border in Castleton. After a laugh filled dinner, we decided to swing by Priscilla’s on 82nd Street for some entertainment. Always fun to go into those types of stores and joke around with the various items for sale…hmmm…wait, maybe I need to pick up one of those…and those…speaking of which, “Kylie, where are my *goodies* from the toy party???” Ummm…what was I talking about? Oh yeah…the weekend. So, after having some additional laughs at Priscilla’s, it was time to head home and finalize my costume for the Mojo Bowling Tourney on Saturday. Who knew that it would be so hard to find a red/yellow striped tie? Apparently, only those silly kids at Hogwarts have such attire. However, I was able to find an orange/grey striped tie at goodwill and through the magic of fabric paint that I picked up at Michael’s, I transformed that tie into a part of the official Hogwarts uniform. Nothing like painting a tie after you’ve had a few margaritas at OTB…makes keeping the color in the lines quite interesting…lol. Once the tie was done, it was off to bed to get rested up for bowling the following day. ;)

So, Saturday arrives and I begin the process of morphing myself into Hermoine Granger. Considering that I have not seen ANY of the Harry Potter movies and was going off of pictures, I think I managed to pull off a great look. Thank goodness I already had most of the pieces of the outfit in my closet already — white button-down shirt – check; v-neck button-down sweater – check; jean skirt – check; little white socks – check; clunky black shoes – check. My only real need was the tie (which I think I did an awesome job on!) and the Hogwarts crest to pin on my sweater (which was easily found and printed from the internet). Let my hair go “natural”…i.e., kind of flyaway…and we have the look down pat. :) I arrived at Sports Bowl a little before 1:00pm and found some other mofos already there and ready to get the show on the road. When the rest of my stellar team (Lish, Jingles, and Tastic) arrived, I knew that we had the best dressed team award won…hands down! Unfortunately, our bowling skills were not as good as our costuming skills were and we were eliminated fairly quickly…oops…lol. Nonetheless, we had a great time together and WE DID WIN THE BEST DRESSED AWARD!!! Yay Team Harry Potter! Once we were eliminated, I stayed to watch the rest of the tourney to see who would take home the trophies. (I also stayed for the beer, but I digress…) Congrats to Team Kingpin for some spectacular bowling…especially ashsmash…damn, that girl can bowl!…and for winning the tournament! As most of you crazy mofos made your way to The Spot to celebrate their one year anniversary and to continue the party, I headed home to get ready for a date…my first date with a very nice guy that I had met the week before through a friend of a friend. ;) He arrived at my place around 8:30pm with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers (never required, but much appreciated) for me. How sweet! After I put the flowers in water, we headed out to Outback Steakhouse for a nice steak dinner and some drinks. The conversation was easy and he made me laugh…which is something I love in a person. Once dinner was complete, we talked about whether or not we wanted to go out to the clubs for dancing or to a movie or what. We finally decided that we would prefer to keep the evening very casual and be in an environment where we could talk. That decided, we headed back to my apartment and watched a couple of movies I had on hand. (Of course, we watched the “scary” ones so that we could cuddle…lol.) At the end of the movies, he got up to leave and gave me a hug and a sweet little kiss before heading back home. The perfect first date! :)

All of this now brings us to Sunday…which is always a laid back day. However, I am in the office as I type this blog working on a few things so that my work week starts off a little better this week as opposed to last, but oh well…you do what you gotta do. Once I get finished here, I’ll be going home to chill out with kitty and to upload some photos from the prior week’s dodgeball game (yeah…sorry about the delay folks) and the insanity that was the Mojo Bowling Tournament. I can’t wait to see some of the other photos/videos that were taken by other mofos. I’m sure they will all be quite entertaining! ;) So, that’s been my weekend in a nutshell…nothing too crazy, but nothing too blah either. All in all…low key and perfect…the way every weekend should be! ;)
