Midwest Hype brought their grooves to the circle city for back-to-back shows this weekend. Last night, at Radio Radio, the funkdafied five-piece headlined after superb sets from locals The Postscript and Red Moon. Their fanbase in our city proved loyal as the men of Midwest Hype played for the first time ever at Radio Radio. Despite a lighter attendance than their typical turnout at The Mousetrap, the fans were real and they came to party.
The trek to Fountain Square ended fruitfully for those who came. The Hype played familiar favorites from their fun, jazzy album Colorful Love, as well as adventurous covers (Notorious B.I.G., ‘Big Poppa'; Warren G., ‘Regulate’). Rusty Redenbacher stepped on stage for a special rendition of the Mudkid’s original ‘Climb’, after which front man George-Matthew Prellwitz hinted at future collaborations in the near future.
