How about them migraines?

Migraine statistics:

“25% of women and 8% of men get migraines sometime in their lifetime. About half of these people get their first migraine before the age of 20, and 98% before the age of 50. 5% get migraine before they’re 15 years old, and about a third of those get migraine before they’re even 5! Most migraines, however, occur between the ages of 25 and 50. According the KidsHealth.org, up to 10% of children between 5 and 15 may experience migraine. Before puberty, girls and boys are almost equal in the migraines they suffer, possibly due to the estrogen changes that women go through at various stages in life. About 70% have some other close (first degree) relative with migraine.”

With that said what are your options.

Medication: Over the counter such as Excedrin Migraine and Prescription Only like Almotriptan (Axert) are widely used with many other prescriptions, actually over 50 other prescriptions. This is the chosen and preferred path for many people and they get results, but what about people who prefer to avoid drugs, don’t get relief from drugs, or keep it for a last resort. There are other options available.

Dietary changes and avoiding certain foods can be very helpful in managing migraines. A nutritionist would be able to give you a full dietary regime to follow.

New studies have shown that the herb Feverfew can be very helpful for migraines as a recent study showed. If you want more information go to pudmed.com and you can search for the studies there.

Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to also be very helpful for chronic migraine headaches as well. Studies have shown chiropractic treatment to be as effective as migraine prescriptions. Again for more information you go research these studies further at Pubmed.com

So there you go for approaches to migraine headaches, it doesn’t have to be completely dependent on drugs, there are natural approaches that are proven to work.

Do you have any other treatments or remedies that are good for migraines from personal experience or people that you know.
