Hello all you Bassheads, Dubsteppers, and House Bangers. It’s that time again for a another round-up of the week’s elite in EDM. Been a rather slow week but there is some nice jewels in the mix. Featured artist is Porter Robinson who has the top slot in Dubstep on Beatport this week and for good reason. Local Spotlight double feature with Lach of Fluid and Ed Trauma. Plus as always the latest and greatest tracks.
If you haven’t heard of Porter Robinson yet, this is the time! This young producer is pumping out some serious business. I featured a track from his new EP “Spitfire” last week and I had to come back for a feature because I was taken away by the whole album. With a variety of styles in his new EP and some amazing remixes by top producers, he has proven himself as top-shelf material in the scene.
Porter Robinson, the 19-year old producer from North Carolina who has graced stages internationally alongside the biggest names in EDM, has just released “Spitfire”, his debut EP.
Taken at EDC 2011
Porter has rapidly ascended the ranks of the international electronic music scene, captivating audiences with his ability to skillfully blend genres into his own unique sound that’s complex yet catchy, and classic yet cutting edge. In September 2011, Porter demonstrated his masterful eclecticism with the release of an 11-track extended EP that spans across moods of Electro House, Dubstep, Moombahton and even Trance, and includes remixes from Knife Party, Downlink, SkisM, Kill The Noise and Mikkas.
The EP was released through a partnership with Skrillex’s OWSLA project, an arrangement that grew organically out of a mutual respect for each other’s music. Continually impressed with his relentless work ethic and mastery of a crowd, Skrillex recruited Porter Robinson to his label, positioning “Spitfire” as its inaugural release.
