“Definitely, Maybe”

“A thirtysomething Manhattan dad is in the midst of a divorce when his 10-year-old daughter, Maya, starts to question him about his life before marriage. Maya wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love: Will’s story begins in 1992, as a young, starry-eyed aspiring politician who moves to New York from Wisconsin in order to work on the presidential campaign. For Maya, Will relives his past as an idealistic young man learning the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of big city politics, and recounts the history of his romantic relationships with three very different women. Will hopelessly attempts a gentler version of his story for his daughter, and changes the names so Maya has to guess who is the woman her father finally married. Is her mother Will’s college sweetheart, the dependable girl next door Emily? Is she his longtime best friend and confidante, the apolitical April? Or is she the free-spirited but ambitious journalist Summer? As Maya puts together the pieces of her dad’s romantic puzzle, she begins to understand that love is not so simple or easy. And as Will tells her his tale, Maya helps him to understand that it’s definitely never too late to go back–and maybe even possible to find a happy ending.”

Ok…wow, I know what you’re thinking chick flick, chick flick, chick flick…who cares, I’ll watch ANYTHING. And I prefer to call it a “romantic comedy”. What attracted me to this movie is Ryan Reynolds, I think he is just about the funniest actor I’ve seen in quite some time, his one liners are awesome, his delivery is perfect and his acting is quite impeccible as well.

The plot is done very well, summed up just as well in the synopsis listed above. I don’t want to say too much about this movie because I WANT people to rent this, I don’t care who you are, you WILL cry by the end of the movie, unless you’re a cold hearted SOB haha.

The acting was done quite well, I was worried about how the characters would develop given the fact that the movie jumps forward and back through time, but an awesome job was done. I mean we’re talking about Ryan Reynolds, Abigail Breslin, Rachel Weiss and Isla Fischer (who might I had is HOT!!! One of the most beautiful actresses I’ve laid eyes on, you may know her better as the crazy girl in Wedding Crashers).

Overall…3 1/2 martini glasses, yep that’s right I said it, you have to see this movie. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship and put themselves out there only to get hurt, this is the movie for you….I will make a PROMISE that you will absolutely love this movie. Nuff said.

Until next time mofo’s…see you at the movies!!!
