Today I’ve got an extra special release, Nocturnal, the latest full album from Big Gigantic. This is following up their A Place Behind The Moon album, and a variety of remixes throughout the past year. I’ve been waiting on Nocturnal for months ever since I heard the first glimpse of it with Rise and Shine used on their Red Rocks video.
Then I heard the second single Nocturnal, which got me even more excited for the album of the same name. Now after listening to Nocturnal a few times all the way through, I can defintely say it’s in a league of it’s own. It combines the soulful funk elements of live jazz with the crushing edgy bass filled electronic sounds which has hints of dubstep, yet is really it’s own genre in itself. The unique and extremely fresh hybrid sound powered by the live energy of Dominic Lalli playing the Sax and Jeremy Salken on Drums really creates something that is here to stay. I’ve included a few of my favorites, but I can’t stress how great this album is all the way through. Enjoy!
