Wow, I just looked at the last time I posted a blog and thought to myself…man I’ve been busy. Sometimes you just don’t realize what you’ve missed if you don’t take a few moments to step away and take it all in. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret what I’ve been doing because you always have to make decisions on how you spend your time…like do I do what I want or do what I need to and if I do what I want is it really what I want if I think about it or is it the fact that I just don’t want to miss out, but am I really missing out on what needs to be done that will help me become and get to my ultimate goals in life, but you’re supposed to have fun and enjoy yourself on the way right or does that come after you’ve accomplished everything. Can I find a happy medium or does it really exist. No wonder why some people are just never happy with the things they do. Eventually we have to choose what is truly important and go with the decisions we make. Then I believe you never make a bad decision. That doesn’t mean that the results weren’t what you wanted them to be, but if you are picking what you feel is truly important then it can’t be a bad or wrong decision can it? or can it? Hey, that’s a pretty good blog for just throwing something out there!

Well I’ve been thinking….I’ve decided that I will ride my bike to work (22 miles one way) at least twice a week. Some people I know think I’m crazy… So I thought why not. Positives- Get good exercise, save money on gas and car use, protect the environment by not driving and polluting the air, hopefully have an influence on others thinking about doing the same. Negatives- time wasted riding to and from work and possibly being exhausted from the long ride. Definitely, going to do it!!!! Honk if you see me!!!

My birthday is coming up and I’m taking a road trip vacation to celebrate. As of now our destinations look like this: St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Vegas, Hoover Damn, San Fran, and L.A. Possible other destinations: Phoenix, Yosemite National Park, Salt Lake City, Aspen, Dallas, etc. We are going to have all kinds of fun, craziness and partying. I will be documenting all of the adventures as we go in the forums! Feel free to keep in touch with us along the way.

Well after two months I will say that my overall score has moved up to a solid 7 out of 10. Its becoming a snowball effect!!! I have accomplished some of the goals I have already set for myself this year and in the month of February I completed the most important ones, but let some of the little ones slide. I look forward to continued improvement as my focus has become more and more pinpoint. As I complete some of the little things that spread me so thin, it feels good when those are completed and you can focus on the most important parts of what you want to accomplish. March is already looking more like Im moving forward instead of catching up like it has seemed the past two months. I can’t wait to see the results!!! Thank you for all the support!!

Fitness survey results

Now the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has just released fitness predictions for 2008 based on its second annual fitness trend survey.

The top 10 fitness trends were ranked from highest to lowest based on opinions of health and fitness professionals worldwide:

1. Educated and experienced fitness professionals

The increasing involvement of educated and experienced fitness professionals tops the list mainly because the industry is giving much importance in offering large populations a wide variety of exercises that are safe and effective.

A certification from groups like the American Council on Exercise (ACE) requires individuals to remain updated on fitness trends and researches by earning continuing education credits through seminars and distance learning.

2. Programs to fight childhood obesity

The problem of obesity starts in childhood and can be attributed to family upbringing. Kids should be introduced to sports and parents should be role models for healthy eating and active lifestyle.

Sommerville school in Massachusetts operates cafeterias that offer fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy meals and baked snacks. Yoga and dance sessions became part of physical education classes.

More than one million kids are now working out in clubs, according to a joint survey by International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and American Sports Data, Inc. Children account for 17 percent of all individuals purchasing training services.

3. Personal training

A one-on-one exercise session is recommended if you have special medical concerns, want to learn about fitness, or are having a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. Knowledge will save you time, money and effort.

4. Strength training

Incorporating strength training into a fitness routine will continue to be emphasized.

Eight to 10 strength training exercises should be done at least twice a week, according to the American Heart Association and ACSM

For a long time I have heard several opinions and all the different views on Global Warming. I really didn’t have to much to say because I wasn’t that knowledgeable in the facts behind it, the studies, etc. So this weekend I decided that I wanted to be able to voice my opinion more loudly and with more confidence on the subject. So of course the first thing I did was googled global warming and started reading article after article after article. It started to seem as if I was on the same road as before and it was opinions, different view points, some facts and some fiction. So I kept digging further and I called a friend of mine who is a college professor and is always hanging in the University library. I asked him if there was some book or other type of medium that would help me get all the facts in one. He recommended a film called The Inconvenient Truth. WOW!!!! What an eye opening film!!!! I now have my factual opinion and I’m on the road to help stop these terrible effects we have on our own environment. We can make such a huge difference, but we seem to continue to be the catalyst to this problem. It definitely is a humbling film and makes you think about all the things we can do to help avoid this problem and it is a BIG problem. Take a look at and you can make a huge change all by yourself!! I highly recommend this film and the use of this website!!!!!

So about 3 months ago you all were talking about this website that you can create your own city. I decided to start one just for fun on the side about a month later. My city is growing, slowly, but it is growing. It now has a population of 23!!! Here is the url: check it out!!!

Well January is over and I would have to rank it a 6-7 out of 10. I did miss somethings that I wanted to do, however I feel the month was an overall success. I accomplished some things that I wanted to, but I feel my greatest success was the fact that I really focused on completing most of the responsibilities I set for myself and overall I was pretty consistent with them. I now have the goal of out doing the month of January as I move forward to month 2. I believe the most difficult task in life is not fight life and all the tasks it involves, but fighting yourself and taking the responsibilities head on or throwing them on your shoulders and moving forward always.

I made my New Years commitments and its about 20 days in and I’m doing so so. I have had one great week, one bad week and one that was in the middle. I’m trying to keep a tight rope on myself, my responsibilities and the commitments I am making for ’08. I don’t think it can get any worse than my ’07, but I have to dig, scratch and climb my way out of this hole. I’m trying to take it one day at a time!!! I’m setting daily goals for myself and just trying to accomplish what I’m doing today and not looking to far ahead. If you mofos get a chance please continue to remind me of these commitments and keep me conscience of it. Wish me luck!!!

So it’s almost the end of my first month, actually it’s only been about 2 1/2 weeks, with my new company. So far so good, I really enjoy the atmosphere and everyone I’ve met on staff is really cool so far. Personally, I’m doing very well. I have six clients already and I am working on gaining a few more. I recently took over the top personal training spot in our Indianapolis market. My goal is to produce as much this month by myself as all the other trainers in the city. Wish me luck!!!
