A couple of DePauw students residing in our westside neighboring city of Greencastle are making a name for themselves in the growing underground world of experimental “basement” music. Imagine a hipper, more versatile version of Owl City; synth-heavy production paired with auto-tuned vocals. However, the two-man team called AudioDax surpasses Owl City by including rapped verse from Krypton FLO and by limiting the use of auto tune to the songs’ choruses (sang by Temble). The duo could easily be compared to the emerging electro/hip hop two-piece Chiddy Bang (for their physical composition; warm, smooth raps; and flowing, electronic production) but I also detect Woodhands inspiration in some of their harder, more rigid tunes as well.
AudioDax just returned from a string of shows at colleges in Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. As they continue to carve out their niche with college kids across the midwest, AudioDax is also beginning their infiltration of the 21+ crowd in clubs and bars around the state. Next Friday November 5th, the duo will grace Indianapolis with their lively hip hop on the stage of the infamous Vogue Theater. AudioDax will join familiar local favorites such as DJ OhBeOne, Glass Halo, and the Cox Brothers as part of Static Shock: where hair & fashion meet music & art.
